This is called “Garbage Bread” but it tastes like pure gold!

This Garbage Bread recipe is just what I need to spice up our dinner routine every once in a while with something a little bit different from our normal fare. This is a fun and easy spin on classic pizzas like stromboli or calzone, using a far less complicated but no less delicious premise. A creation of the New York region, it resembles stuffed bread but is made up of all the fixings you’d find on a pizza, all neatly wrapped up in one delicious roll. Because of its adaptability and ability to maximize leftovers, it is ideal for game evenings, family parties, or times when you have a little extra of anything in the fridge. And who among us doesn’t adore the thought of a golden crust encasing warm, cheesy deliciousness with all of our favorite fillings?

Complement your Garbage Bread with a refreshing green salad drizzled with a little vinaigrette or a hot bowl of your go-to soup to make it more comforting. Carrot and celery sticks dipped in refreshing ranch dressing might be the perfect treat for the kids. This is the pinnacle of hands-on dining, so make sure to bring napkins.

Servings for Garbage Bread: 4–6

One thin crust pizza dough, either handmade or purchased,

Three ingredients:

ground beef (one pound), mozzarella (one cup), and cheddar (half a cup).

onion, diced (half a cup)

minced garlic (two cloves)

bell peppers, sliced — half a cup

– 1/2 cup of black olives, sliced (if desired)

– Olive oil, measuring 1 tablespoon

Ingredients: – Two tablespoons of olive oil – Salt and pepper to taste – One egg (to make the egg wash)

How to Follow

First things first: get the oven hot, around 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).

Second, sauté the onions in olive oil over medium-high heat in a pan until they begin to become translucent. You can’t escape that aroma, I swear!

3. Brown the ground beef by adding it and breaking it up with a spoon. Along with the minced garlic cloves, add a pinch of salt and pepper.

4. Add the bell peppers and, if using, black olives. Then, sprinkle with the Italian spice. After a few more minutes of stirring, everything should be nice and cozy in the pan.

5. On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle that is approximately 10 by 14 inches. This will help keep it from sticking. Rustic is excellent for the soul; we aren’t seeking perfection.

Sixth, top the dough with the ground beef mixture, being sure to leave a little border around the sides. Cheese is the binding agent that keeps life’s wonderful things together, so top with some mozzarella and cheddar.

7. Carefully shape the dough into a jelly roll by beginning with the longest side and pinching the ends together. Seam side down, transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet to facilitate cleaning.

8. Cut a few holes at the top of the bread to let steam out; this will give the Garbage Bread some breathing space.

9. For that irresistible golden shine, beat an egg and brush it over the top. Believe me when I say it matters.

10. Place in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the bread turns a gorgeous golden color and has a somewhat hollow sound when tapped. Dinner is calling, and that’s the music.

11. Set aside for a little while to relax. Before serving heated, cut it into slices. Seeing your loved ones jump in is the greatest feeling in the world.

Tips and Variations: For a lighter version, try ground turkey or a plant-based option instead of ground beef. The same goes with crumbled sausage, either cooked or uncooked.

– A Incorporate any other vegetables that you may own, like as mushrooms or, for a hint of verdant color, a handful of spinach.

– A Our little secret is that if those finicky eaters want something simple, like cheese and beef or simply cheese, we can do it.

– A The Garbage Bread may be made in advance and stored in the fridge until baking time. Simply allow it to cool to room temperature for around half an hour before placing it in the oven.

Make it your own, savor it, and come together because this is a meal for sharing and caring
