Ingredients
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
3/4 cup milk
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 small onion, chopped
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
3/4 cup finely crushed saltine cracker crumbs
Directions
1. PREPARING THE LOAF PAN
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Lightly grease a 5×9 inch loaf pan to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal of the meatloaf.
2. CREATING THE BROWN SUGAR GLAZE
Press the brown sugar evenly into the bottom of the prepared loaf pan, forming a sweet and caramelized base for the meatloaf.
Spread the ketchup over the layer of brown sugar, creating a tangy and flavorful glaze that will infuse the meatloaf with richness.
3. MIXING THE MEATLOAF
In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, milk, eggs, salt, pepper, chopped onion, ground ginger, and finely crushed saltine cracker crumbs.
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined, ensuring even distribution of flavors and textures throughout the meatloaf mixture.
4. SHAPING AND BAKING THE MEATLOAF
Shape the meatloaf mixture into a loaf shape and carefully place it on top of the prepared brown sugar and ketchup layer in the loaf pan.
Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for approximately 1 hour, or until the juices run clear and the meatloaf is cooked through.
Once baked, allow the meatloaf to cool slightly before slicing and serving, allowing the flavors to meld together for a truly satisfying dining experience.
ENJOY!
